Accessibility
We feel that it is important for everyone to be able to access our website. With complete access in mind, we are implimenting an accessibility policy that will allow virtually anyone to view Bostasp.
The current version of Bostasp.org has been developed for users to coherently read the website without the need for a stylesheet. We've constructed our code to be standards compliant and void of any design or colour information.
More accessibility features, including high-contrast stylesheets, improved text features, custom font sizes and informative image information and link titles are yet to be implimented. We feel that it is important to impliment these features. This page will be updated as features are added.
Generic recommendations
- To get the best out of your visit to Bostasp.org, we recommend you use a desktop resolution of at least 1024 x 768 or higher.
Browsers
We recommend using following browsers when viewing Bostasp.org as they are fully compatible with our website:
- Mozilla Firefox 2 + and earlier versions.
- Opera 9 + and earlier versions.
- Netscape Browser 8, Netscape 7.2.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
- Safari 2 and above.
The following browers present known minor graphical defects:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 - Issues with the additional navigation menu found under the main menu on in the about pages. Due to this issue, users of IE 6 will not be able to view this menu. We have left the contents side-navigation menu intact so users can still navigate to the pages the additional menu gave access to
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 - IE versions piror to IE 7 render pages too wide when a table with a width of 100% is used. We have implemented a fix which renders tables at 98.5% on IE 6 and below. This fix however causes tables to appear a few pixels thinner, affecting object alignment. IE 5.5 and below does not comprehend the table layout on the gallery pages, causing the image table to appear below the right-hand floating contents menu. The Community Forums also appear too wide for the browser when viewed with IE 5.5 and below.
We do not recommend using the following browsers with Bostasp.org as they are either untested or present grave display errors:
- Netscape Navigatior and Communicator browsers, Netscape 6
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and earlier versions.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mac
If you find display errors on any of the browsers we recommend when using this website, or wish to supply information on any browsers we haven't mentioned, please feel free to contact us.
Accesskeys
Much of this website can be navigated without the use of a mouse. Using keyboard shortcuts or accesskeys you can navigate effortlessly around the primary areas of Bostasp.org.
To use this feature:
- In Firefox use Alt + Shift + <accesskey>
- In IE use Alt + <accesskey> + Enter
- In Opera use Shift + Esc to view the accesskey menu and press the <accesskey> required.
- In Safari (on Mac OS X) use Ctrl + <accesskey>. Note: If using Spaces on Leopard, as I am, some of the current accesskeys (e.g. navigation to the home page or the galleries) will just switch you between your various Spaces. I will find a fix soon.
