Welcome to Bostasp

Hello there and welcome to this website that we call Bostasp!

For a while we have had a place on the interwebs that didn’t really do much: it didn’t really achieve anything. Now, we’ve spruced up a little, migrated to WordPress and have ideas in store! If you are hankering for the old site, however, don’t worry. It is still here.

Firstly, if you haven’t the foggiest what you’ve just read, feel free to head over to the about pages, where you will find all sorts of novel information about this here little website.

For those of you who have been around for a while, you may remember the original Bostasp, and its various phrases. We’ve managed to claw them back, dust them down and put them all online. Synthetically Pleasing Sayings is the project where you can find them all, in their glory. We endeavour to create a few more to add to the stockpile.

Please check back regularly to see how we’re getting on.

And finally, on a day when two disgruntled ex-ministers decided that four months before a general election was the right time to resemble rancid pudenda, it is probably best to provide a picture of what every other bloody person is complaining/talking about/falling over in (delete as appropriate) today:

Yes, it's snow

Yes, it's snow

Enjoy folks, and I hope our newest incarnation brings you some amusement.

An update (and other stories…)

Hello kids!

Things have been busy here in Bostopia! (Er, who am I kidding? I’ve been getting ever increasingly closer to my screen whilst trying to touch up the last bits and pieces for this little thing before we go and actually publish anything. In the process I have developed an uncomfortable ache in my lower back).

With my paint brush, or keyboard, it is my pleasure to report the following:

  • We are now pretty on touch-screen mobile devices.
  • The community has been linked on the main page, for a limited time only. Eventually the forums will be wound down and archived. All community activity is envisaged to take place on our WordPress build in future.
  • I am writing this up whilst filled with Scotch.
  • Did you like the old navigation menu? No? Oh, so you forgot what it looked like? Well here:
A screengrab of our previous navigation menu.

A screengrab of our previous navigation menu.

Since that is a little naff, and our ill-fated Zones selection screen was much nicer:
A screengrab of our Zones selection screen.

A screengrab of our Zones selection screen.

See? Well, we merged the two. Play with the links under our subtitle to inspect the new navigational creation.
  • Launch date is scheduled for the 5th January 2010 at 00:01. All new pages that are being worked on are timed to publish on or from this date.
  • Ruth and Batson have joined us. I at least think this is news-worthy.

As you can see, things have been put together in some sort of ill-informed, skewed and perhaps a mildly cretinous fashion.

See you in the new year!

Please ignore the mess…

So, you’ve found the little hideout for the new WordPress based website. Good for you! There isn’t much to see here, as this little thing will be rolled out from January 2010, but as you’ve found us, might as well let you know what this’ll be.

From January, should be throwing up things that include:

  • A digest of old (and new) sayings that started off this website in the first place (all those years ago).
  • Commentary on the joys of living in Exeter. This includes, but is not limited to, the University and Students’ Guild, the joys of an International Relations degree course, etc.
  • Random political musings.
  • Your face.
  • Other assorted contributions from contributors who are, er, friendly!

Hope you enjoy.
